physicians weight loss program review

I am going to identify this machine the 7 for that sake of ease of reading.
It weighs about 185 pounds. It is very light for the treadmill of this caliber. It can be folded. I did fold this machine because Bowflex claims that these have what they call a SoftDrop tools. I have the same opinion that this works. After I folded it I just pushed on it slightly and also the deck went gliding to the floor delicately. I've never seen this.
It measures 83 inches long by 35 inches high by 55 inches high (approximately) which is a fairly typical size.
You will get a superb guarantee by the 7. You'll get 15 years for those frame; 10 years for the motor; 2 years for parts and electronics and 1 year for labor.
What I found especially remarkable was learning that there's no maximum user weight. That isn't unheard of. But what I never heard of is that the warranty is good provided someone over 300 pounds doesn't use it. So though they don't say there's a utmost user weight essentially there is. That's a mean number. To get into the upper numbers you will probably have to spend more money.
The belt is 60 inches long by 20 inches wide. I am extra worried while using the length because I don't like hitting the front of treadmills. This is a nice long surface. Twenty inches is good. You don't require anything less than 17 inches wide.
You'll now find treadmills with absorption system names for their belts. A few call them Flex Deck Shock Absorption System just to call one. Bowflex calls theirs Strike Zone. I don't run but I do power walk. I used to be very happy on the 7's deck. The deck felt firm when I lifted my feet but soft, then put my feet down. Once an hour my ankles didn't hurt; my toes weren't numb and my joints and back were just fine.
You'll have a 3.0 horsepower motor. Again this isn't the highest you'll find but in this price range it's over adequate.
The 7 is really a quiet, well built machine. It's sturdy despite its weight.
I discovered sensors from the handlebars under the console to monitor my heart rate. It also is included with a chest strap so I didn't have to adopt my hands off the surface rails or put them on the sensors.
There are a couple of integrated water bottle holders and also a magazine rack.
The console:
I believe the console for the 7 could be very pretty. It's large. I discovered a fan with three speeds- low, medium and high. The system seemed angled back a lot more than others. It seemed that unless you're very short the fan will hit you. Two speeds is very regular number.
The console showed me my time, calories, calories per hour, distance, pace, segment time, incline and heart rate. (Segment Time showed the outstanding time in the program I was using.)
The 7 has certainly one of my favorite features- quick keys.
QuickSpeed allowed me to improve my speed or decrease it directly. I didn't have got to push the incline or decline button for all tenth of your mile per hour more rapidly that I would like to run or for each amount of prejudice I desire to walk. If I will be walking at 3 miles an hour and wish to go to 4 rather than pressing the up arrow, which is what is usually done, I just press 4 but it at once jumped to 4. The keys are on all sides of the console. The QuickIncline keys did similar except for the extent of incline I wanted.
The engine goes from.5 to 11 mph and inclines from 0 to 12% - enough for just about anyone.
This machine has 15 workout programs and two heart rate applications. It also offers something I have never seen before as's a body max index program.
Among the programs relating to the 7 include a fat burn heart rate, cardio, running, hill and interval.
I'm gonna briefly go through one of the programs. Since the BMI (body max index) is so unusual I'll inform you how it worked. It isn't a fitness test or perhaps a program but a calculation to show ultimate weight range for the height. BMI was a huge deal a couple of years ago. People thought it a useful tool showing the connection between weight and height and that is of body fat. However we've got since seen that the quantity could be very inaccurate. You may weigh 145 pounds and be 5 feet 3 inches tall. Your BMI would explain you have too much body fat since it would grant you a part that's high. However it doesn't take muscle into consideration. If you are older you could have lost muscle mass but be thin. Nose to nose you can pinch a complete lot more than an in. however the calculation will show your BMI to be alright. So take all this which includes a grain of salt. Finally I was curious so I attempted it.
I hit the power button and entered my weight. I then adjusted it using the arrow keys to the right weight and strike enter. I hit the keypad awaiting I got on the BMI program and hit enter. I then entered my height and hit enter and I got my ultimate BMI. Such as an aside I had a physical another day and my health care provider check my BMI (I used to be fine.). It is a new health practitioner for me. My previous primary care physician didn't use this index.
My thoughts:
You'll discover cheaper equipment which I've reviewed by ProForm most of which I've given high marks and are one quarter the price. I am not comparing this machine toward those. It looks like the quality of Nautilus equipment is excellent as is the warranty. I want to mention that I don't believe you can find anything regarding the 300 pound weight limit for those warranty written down. You possibly can either take my word or should you be over 300 pounds and wish to buy this check before you do.
The machine is light and personally will present significantly better in case you are on the other side of 300. The programs are great. Its an easy to use and understand machine and it's attractive. It folds and unfolds easily. You won't get an adjustable deck like you might on the LifeFitness machine but you furthermore may won't be spending $5,000. Five stars.
If you hasten to know where best place or best source to purchase, I will tell you the best place to buy and get save up $700, Bowflex Series 7 Treadmill on this website you will see more detail information and where place to buy with discount

Eating Disorders 101: An Introduction

Research reports that two out of four young people have unhealthy ideas about eating, dieting and weight. With the alarming increase of eating disorders, dieting, and obesity among children as young as 5 and 6, it's crucial these days for parents to proactively work to promote healthy eating and body image in their children. It has been found that in households where mom talks about feeling fat, 81% of their teenage daughters said they felt fat too. Our girls, especially, are being easily confused and influenced when it comes to body image development. In a culture where young people are bombarded with skinny, glossy, and superficial images, parents can be a mirror reflecting understanding, reassurance, wisdom, and love that their children can look into with faith and not fear. Many factors influence whether an adolescent will develop a positive or negative body image. As a parent, you can learn to be supportive the next time your child says, “Mom, I feel fat or Mom, I hate my life,” and be ready with an answer by saying, “that sounds like an important feeling, tell me more.” The Slenderizing Beauty Ideal Everyday 56% of the women in the United States are on diets. We have a 30-billion-dollar-a-year diet industry. The historical view of the ideal female body has changed over the years and influenced this dieting America. Although many factors contribute to the changing body shape of girls, including better nutrition, earlier onset of puberty and other societal influences. The fact remains that regardless of the reason, the common trend over time points to a slenderizing standard of the female ideal. With standards like this, it is no wonder that children are dissatisfied with their bodies. When it came to looks – teens are most concerned about weight. A Teen People survey of 1000 teens, showed that 39% worried about weight. Between 2000 and 2001, cosmetic surgery on girls 18 and younger had increased by 22%. Another study reported that after girls viewed pictures of models in fashion magazines: 69% reported that magazine pictures influenced their idea of the perfect body shape and 47% reported wanting to lose weight because of magazine pictures. This study found that those who were frequent readers of fashion magazines were 2-3 times more likely than infrequent readers to start dieting to lose weight because of a magazine article. What Are Eating Disorders? Is it any wonder, then, that eating disorders affect 7 million women and 1 million men in the United States? Eating disorders include anorexia, bulimia nervosa and binge-eating disorder. People with anorexia starve themselves to dangerously thin levels, at least 15% below their appropriate weight. People with bulimia binge uncontrollably on large amounts of food--sometimes thousands of calories at a time--and then purge the calories out of their bodies through vomiting, starving, excessive exercise, laxatives, or other methods. People with binge-eating disorder eat uncontrollably, but they do not purge the calories. Eating Disorders Not Otherwise Specified (or EDNOS) is a new classification of disordered eating that falls between anorexia, binge eating and bulimia. Unfortunately, since this type of 'sub-clinical' disorder is often not life-threatening, there appears to be little research available on the topic. One of the goals at, the first national organization dedicated to helping those who struggle with ENDOS, is to begin collecting new information through input from their website visitors and other existing sources. Visit the website to take the “Weird Eater” quiz and take a closer look at how dieting habits can lead to disordered eating. Anorexia Warning Signs for Adolescents & Adults: • Loss of menstrual period • Dieting obsessively when not overweight • Claiming to feel "fat" when overweight is not a reality • Preoccupation with food, calories, nutrition, and/or cooking • Denial of hunger • Excessive exercising, being overly active • Frequent weighing • Strange food-related behaviors • Episodes of binge-eating • 15% or more below normal body weight/rapid weight loss • Depression • Slowness of thought/memory difficulties • Hair loss * In children any combination of these symptoms should be considered serious and an immediate evaluation by an eating disorder professional or physician is recommended. Source: Bulimia Warning Signs: • Excessive concern about weight • Strict dieting followed by eating binges • Frequent overeating, especially when distressed • Bingeing on high calorie, sweet foods • Use of laxatives, diuretics, strict dieting, vigorous exercise, and/or vomiting to control weight • Leaving for the bathroom after meals • Being secretive about binges or vomiting • Planning binges or opportunities to binge • Feeling out of control • Depressive moods Source: EDNOS Warning Signs: • You're always on a diet, always coming off a diet, or always getting ready to go on one again (chronic dieting). • You categorize foods as 'safe' and 'off limits', but weigh within normal ranges and are not participating in bulimia. • You eliminate entire food groups from your diet. • You are obsessed with exercising but eat fairly regularly. • You binge and/or purge occasionally, but not more than a few times a month. • You skip social occasions because you feel fat, or because you are afraid of what's being served, yet your weight is normal. • You believe that everyone is as focused on your weight as you are. • You refuse to eat regular meals, choosing instead to 'nibble' throughout the day on small portions of food (which usually leads to bingeing). Source: How Common Are Eating Disorders? Eating disorders are serious illnesses. The malnourishment of both anorexia and bulimia affects the body rapidly and can lead to hypoglycemia, pancreatitis, enlargement of the heart, heart attacks, congestive heart failure, permanent brain shrinkage with loss of memory and IQ, infertility, and osteoporosis. It is not uncommon for a teenage girl with anorexia to have the bones of an 80 year old woman. The condition is not reversible. Ultimately, approximately, 6% of people with anorexia and 1% with bulimia will die from their eating disorder. According to Remuda Ranch, an inpatient eating disorder treatment center in Arizona, estimates indicate that 1/3 of American women and 15% of men will have an eating disorder or related problem at some time in their lives. Fifty years ago, eating disorders were practically unheard of. Research suggest a strong genetic component to eating disorders. People who are prone to perfectionism and low self-esteem may be most at risk. In today’s world, the cultural pressures for young people to obtain and maintain super-thin bodies are extreme. In this environment, thinness readily becomes a way of dealing with many emotional issues. However, outcome studies have shown there is much hope for people with eating disorders. The good news is that approximately 75% of patients with eating disorders do recover. How Can Parents Prevent Disordered Eating? Parents can do much to spare their children a life-long struggle with eating and weight. One of the most important ways is to examine their own beliefs and prejudices as a parent about weight and appearance. Parents should communicate acceptance and respect for themselves and other people regardless of weight. This will reduce some of the pressure children may feel to change their bodies. Especially, discourage the idea that a particular diet or body size can reliably lead to happiness. Do not model or encourage dieting. Accept and talk about the fact that diets don’t work and the dangers of altering one’s body through dieting. Tips For Healthy Eating In our diet crazed culture, what really is healthy eating? Here are a few tips that will go a long way in feeding your family a balanced mealtime experience. For starters, teach your children to listen to their body -- eat when you’re hungry, stop when you’re full. Remember balance means that most of the time you eat because you are hungry and use food as fuel for your body. But, it also means that sometimes you eat simply when the food appeals to you or when it is appropriate in a social setting (e.g., popcorn at the movies), allowing yourself to eat for enjoyment. Try to eat different foods everyday, in other words, create an adventure for your taste buds. Aim to inspire your family to eat 3 meals and 1 to 3 snacks a day. The idea that snacking between meals is bad is a thing of the past. By teaching your kids to eat every 2 to 4 hours, they will prevent their body from getting overly hungry which could set them up to overeat later. Plus, the body uses the fuel from food very efficiently when smaller amounts of food is eaten more frequently throughout the day. The bottom line: eat normally, exercise moderately, and let your body weigh what it wants. Yes, it will take courage and perseverance, but the rewards of knowing you are teaching your family how to eat for pleasure is a true legacy to leave. Resources BOOKS DeVillera, Julia. GirlWise. Thyroid Hormone Physiology Primer

Many of you report to my office with a complaint of being hypothyroid only to have been told by your primary care provider that you are normal on testing. Guess what? They are correct!! But, so are you. However, they have not gone far enough to document what you know to be true. Your thyroid gland most of the time is producing adequate amounts of thyroid. However, after it leaves the gland, the brain takes over and it responds to environmental cues, sleep, stress, exercise, etc. This response changes the activity of enzymes that control the conversion of your thyroid hormone to its more active form known as T3. This has to be assessed to adequately determine your true thyroid activity. I have included a feedback chart below of this physiology. The following is a review of the thyroid axis: HYPOTHALAMUS-> TRH(thyrotropin releasing hormone-this is decreased in times of stress) -->PITUITARY ---------> TSH(thyroid stimulating hormone - also decreased under times of stress) -->THYROID (the gland produces 4 types of thyroid hormone, T1-4- 90% of output as T4, 10% of output as T3. T2 andT1 are < 1% of output). T3 is 5 times more potent than T4. As such 50-80% of T4 is converted to its more potent counterpart, T3. The conversion occurs via the activity of enzymes called DEIODINASES. They are known as the D1-3 enzymes. This is how the brain controls thyroid activity and why in times of stress, the activity of the thyroid is reduced. D1 and D2 control the conversion in muscle and nerve. When stress occurs, however, the D3 enzyme is activated converting T4--> rT3- reverseT3. Reverse T3 is not able to bind the thyroid receptor and acts as a "thyroid brake" limiting the metabolic effects of thyroid. The primary stress hormone that controls all of this is CRH(corticotropin releasing hormone). This is also released by the hypothalamus in the brain. It stimulates the release of ACTH(adrenocorticotropin hormone). It stimulates the adrenal gland to release adrenaline and cortisone, the primary stress hormones. When CRHis released, TRH and subsequently TSH are reduced. Think of it this way. The thyroid's main function is to set the metabolic rate and oxygen consumption in the body. When the thyroid is reduced, fatigue, body temperature decline, weight management problems, constipation, hair loss, etc. ensue. This happens under stress because the brain thinks it must prioritize fueling to supply the stress response that may entail running or fighting to escape danger. Reducing metabolic rate by reducing thyroid activity will help the body maintain adequate fuel for the stress response/escape. When your primary care providers assess your thyroid, they generally only measure TSH and perhaps T4. They do not look at the rest of the chemistry. So, when they tell you your thyroid is producing normally, technically they are correct, but they are not accounting for the environmental influences that we all endure these days. Not to mention, there are micronutrient issues/deficiencies in our food supply that deny us adequate micronutrient support that supports the normal conversion of thyroid. Without assessing T3 and rT3 levels, there is no acknowledgment of environment / nutritional issues and the source of hypothyroid symptoms may be missed. But, here is the KEY POINT! If your brain is not allowing conversion to T3 and shunting to rT3 instead, it is doing so as compensation to your lifestyle and stressors in an effort to protect you. In many cases, trying to supply T3 to compensate for altered conversion will not solve the problem as the brain will see this as going against its programming. In my experience, most of the time, some improvement in this chemistry can be obtained. However, you may not be able to achieve the complete rebalancing without some homage being paid to your stressors. Sorry, this is just the reality of how this works. This is a very complex chemistry that demands a more thorough evaluation when symptoms of low activity present. More and more physicians are starting to look at this more in depth. Hopefully, this primer will educate you a bit on what you should be looking for and asking your doctor about. You may not get a favorable response to your inquiry, unfortunately. Take heart, there are more of us out there that will listen. Hope this helps..... My name is Courtney Ridley, MD FACOG. The Best Weight Loss Programs - A Map for Weight Loss Success

Weight loss programs have come and gone over the years, but there are a few with proven longevity due to their widespread success among dieters. While it is a good idea to go into weight loss programs with a healthy dose of skepticism, you will find the big names you recognize are famous because they genuinely help you lose weight. That's not to say that they are the be-all, end-all of weight loss-but these programs can certainly give you a leg up in your weight loss goals. These programs focus on changes in your entire life-not just your diet. This is the best way to guarantee long-term permanent weight loss. While we're not going to cover the minute details of the major programs mentioned in this article, we are going to give you some tips for finding a high-quality program. Remember, everyone is different and you need to determine the best way you're going to succeed. You need to consider what your individual abilities and limitations are and calculate your budget for food and weight loss counseling. If you need a lot of diversity in your diet to keep you from getting bored, find a weight loss program that focuses on healthy variety. If you need a lot of community support, recognize this early on and choose a program with a strong social support piece. The first sign of a quality weight loss program is a comprehensive lifestyle review. Programs that do not include exercise or social support are often poorly designed and overpriced. The next sign of a program that will work is the inclusion of balanced meals and gradual weight loss. If your program advocates low-calorie, low-carbohydrate and little protein, you will quickly send your body into starvation mode. As a result, you will lose muscle mass, which is the exact opposite kind of tissue you want to lose for weight. In the long run, your body's metabolism crashes and you end up gaining weight back very quickly. Many programs out there involve complicated math that require you to tally different nutritional measurements (fat, protein, carbohydrates, etc). These programs are great for experienced exercise gurus, but for the average busy adult, they are too complicated! Many people on these overly complex programs simply give up and return to old habits. Keep it simple. A well-designed program will have already calculated what meals you can eat without involving your calculator. A great program that provides this fidelity of research into its meals is the Nutrisystem Weight Loss Diet Delivery program. The final point of caution for choosing programs is cost and professionalism. Any program should be able to back up its claims with peer-reviewed evidence of its effectiveness. You shouldn't need an academic journal subscription to find the evidence either. The program should be ready and willing to distribute its scientific evidence. Once you have the evidence, consider the academic and professional resume of those who have designed the program. Do they seem hokey or fake? Follow your instinct. Well-known programs such as Jillian Michaels Healthy Weight Loss Plan and Bistro MD Gourmet Diet Food Delivery plan are backed by real doctors and weight loss experts. At the end of the day, only you can determine which of these programs will work best for you. You may have to try a few programs before you find one that matches your needs and budget. Usually one of the three mentioned above will be effective for most dieters. They are popular for a reason, after all-they work! Excerise to lose weight Article Source:

Which Weight Loss Program Works?

Your first obstacle is wading through the onslaught of available weight loss programs and choose the one that you think is right for you. Obviously, your first question will be 'which weight loss program works?' Each weight loss program that you encounter will claim that it is 'the one'. Unfortunately, that isn't always true. There are some pretty far fetched weight loss programs out there. Some are just plain rubbish, although harmless, while others are quite dangerous. When you select a weight loss program, the first thing to keep in mind is that eating right and exercising is the key to losing weight - regardless of what the program is called or what it promises to do. If the program does not encourage these two things, you should probably steer clear of it. The second thing to remember is that there really is no such thing as 'no effort' weight loss. There is no magic pill or magic food. Losing weight takes work, regardless of which program you choose. If this weren't true, everybody would be their ideal weight. Finally, consider yourself, your preferences, and your life style. Some weight loss programs have really complex menus that just are not feasible when you live on a budget and have to feed three picky kids as well. The average person cannot afford to purchase two sets of groceries (one for you, and one for the kids and the spouse) or to cook two separate meals for the entire family. Sticking to a diet isn't easy, and temptations are already everywhere. Find a weight loss program that your spouse and kids can live with as well, if possible. Remember that what works for your best friend or neighbor may not necessarily work for you, and this is generally based on whether you like the foods that are 'allowed' on the weight loss program, and whether or not you can stick with that list of allowed foods for the length of time that it takes to get the weight off. Furthermore, you must consider the foods that you will be able to eat once the weight has come off, in order to keep the weight off. In the grand scheme of things, most weight loss programs that incorporate eating right with exercise work, if you stick with the program. Therefore, all you really need to do is pick the one that fits in with your preferences and lifestyle and get started. How to Choose the Best Weight Loss Program - 5 Ways

There are so many weight loss products and weight loss programs available today it's hard to know which one to choose. We have to remember that they are not all the same and some will be more suitable than others. Some will require you to follow a strict diet whilst some will let you eat anything you like as long as it's in moderation. Some will require you to exercise and some will say you don't need to exercise. Confusing isn't it!? So let's look 5 reasons we need to remember when we are reviewing the best weight loss products. 1) How much weight do you want to lose an how soon do you want to lose it? This is very important and you will need to set yourself some realistic goals and see which program fits your lifestyle. Don't believe all the hype that you can lose 40lbs in a month, this is dangerous, just choose a program that predicts a slow and steady, safe reduction. 2) Does the program offer additional assistance? Some of us are quite capable to follow a course in our own time and under our own guidance. However if you feel you might need extra support then look for a program which maybe has an internet forum or a chat room. In these forums and chat rooms you can get additional advice and tips from other users of the same program. These are a great idea if you find you need some extra motivation. 3) Are there any ongoing costs? Do you want to pay a one off price for your weight loss program or are you happy to pay a monthly subscription. There are different ways to look at this. Some will say that if you pay monthly you can be more encouraged to stick with your weight loss program, but others will say that they often give up because they don't want to keep paying out money. This is a personal choice and must be made depending on your own circumstances. Whichever you decide, just remember to stick with it and don't give up. 4) Is the program tailored for you? With so many weight loss programs around and many of them just rehashed ideas you need to look for a weight loss program that will fit your lifestyle. Don't accept a general program that fits everybody. Look for a program that can be adapted to you and provide specific help to your weight problems. We don't all have the same weight problems and causes so look for something that you can tailor to you. 5) Can you get your money back if it doesn't work? Some top quality weight loss programs will give a money back guarantee meaning they are standing by what they believe. This is very important. If the weight loss program maker is confident in their program then you should give it a fair test, and have the comfort of knowing that if it doesn't work for you, you can get your money back and try and find a more suitable weight loss program. Use these 5 useful tips to choose a weight loss program and it will help you find a program to suit you. At WeightAway [] we have looked at the Top 5 Weight Loss Programs [] currently available and studied each one and ranked them according to their effectiveness. Article Source:

Weight Loss Programs - Which Is Best For You?

In most cases, the specific weight loss program you choose has little to do with whether you will lose weight or not. Weight loss occurs when you consume fewer calories than your body is using. As a result, it does not matter if you choose to follow a low carb diet or a vegan diet or a vegetarian diet or a high protein diet, your own special homemade diet or any of the many commercial diet programs. So long as the plan you choose to follow results in your burning more calories than you are eating, you will lose weight. Therefore, the optimum diet program for you will be the one that fits in best with your personal and cultural preferences concerning food choices and exercise requirements as well as your reason for dieting in the first place. The fact of the matter is that there is no single best weight loss plan (or even one best set of weight loss tips) for everyone. Every person is different, both physiologically as well as psychologically. Your body and you mind are going to react to stimuli differently whether that stimuli is food or thought. The type of eating and/or exercise plans that work well for one person may not be workable at all for another. Same goes for motivation: what motivates (or discourages) one person may have the exact opposite effect on another. The main reason diets fail is not a lack of determination; it is because the dieter chose the wrong plan and simply could not continue to follow that plan. To give yourself the best chance of being successful, you must consider all aspects of any program you are considering and determine how well each component (food, exercise and motivation/support) fits into your lifestyle. Determining Which Weight Loss Program Is Your Best Fit The first thing you must do when searching for a weight loss program is to ignore the commercials you see for all the "new" and or "improved" diet plans. That is not to say you cannot consider one of these programs; it is just that the advertising can (and is designed to) sway your decision-making and you should not consider any advertising claims when selecting a plan to follow. To find the best fit for you, we suggest that you take the following into consideration: Are you self motivated? If so, then support groups (online or off) and weekly meetings should not factor into you decision. However if you are a private person, then plans, such as weight watchers, that emphasize support groups and meeting should probably be avoided. On the other hand, if you need the support, this component (including the quality of the support as well as the frequency) should be one of the first things you look for. Do you like to cook? If so, you will probably not do well on any of the meal delivery programs. However, if you don't cook or live a life on the go, following a pre-packaged meal program may be a better choice. Same thing goes for certain foods and food types. If you have cultural or religious preferences or just foods you cannot or will not eat, then you have to determine if the program has adequate substitutions for those foods. If not, then you should avoid those programs. What is your feeling about exercise? Do you like to exercise or do you hate it? Do you have time to exercise or will it be something you have to make time for? If you have a physical limitation or lack of time or just hate the thought of exercise, then you will not want to choose a plan that derives most of its benefit from an exercise plan. Note: even a little increase in the exercise you are getting will aid whatever diet plan you do chose and will help make you healthier; however, if the plan is really an exercise plan with a diet component, you should really look elsewhere if exercise is not your cup of tea. Are you looking for fast results without a real concern for long-term sustainability? If so, diet programs that use supplements (natural, over the counter or even prescription), severe calorie restriction diets (never a good idea long-term) or gimmicky diets like the Birmingham Cardiac Diet may be a good choice. How much time do you have? If you are well-organized or have abundant free time, then a simple program where you make your own menus, buy you own groceries and cook your own food may be a better (and certainly cheaper) choice. If you need someone else to tell you step by step what you need to be doing and eating, then a more regimented program will be needed. How are your finances? Weight loss programs cost money to buy (or access), money to maintain (for food, supplements, gym memberships etc) and money to continue (in some cases, the programs have a continuing fee for as long as you are on the program). You have to find out what it will cost you (at least an estimate) to reach your target weight goal and decide 1) if you have that money to spend and 2) if that cost is justified by the results you expect to receive. Many times the additional cost involved with a plan makes it a bad choice altogether. Sometimes there are just better alternatives from a monetary standpoint. However, sometimes, the cost of the program is not an issue or the benefits outweigh the cost however high that cost may be. There are programs out there that have only a onetime cost and there are those that have a recurring cost. You must decide which one will not only fit your budget but is one you will be able to continue to justify in your mind. Are you looking for long-term sustainability? If so, the fad diets and the rapid weight loss diets are probably not the option you are looking for. Permanent weight loss requires you to replace the habits that led you to become overweight with healthier habits. If you want to diet once and be thin forever, you have to choose from weight loss programs that emphasize education and behavior modification. Do you want to gain knowledge and information on how to lose weight and keep it off for life? Do you feel that learning to make better food and exercise choices is more important than just losing weight? Then, you just might be a holistic dieter. The more you learn about healthy eating and exercise choices and the more you strive to make those healthier choices a part of your life, the greater the likelihood that you will be able to maintain your ideal weight. The list above is certainly not all-inclusive and I am sure you can think of other personal preferences that you need to consider. The point is that you must consider these preferences when choosing a diet to follow. When you are ready to start what will hopefully be you next (and last) weight loss, don't just go for the sexy, popular, new diet plan but sit down with a pre-made list of criteria and pick the program that best fits you. Without question, the easiest weight loss programs to follow (and the one which you will be most successful with) are the program(s) that fit your life and your goals the best. Weight Loss Programs for Men Review

Weight Loss Programs for Men - Possible To Lose 9 Pounds in 11 Days? Weight loss programs for men kinda seem like a joke to a lot of women. As losing extra weight goes, men get zero sympathy from women. However because of men's higher metabolism and muscle mass they seem to lose weight more quickly. Also they have the added advantage of not enduring the monthly hormone imbalances that women have, especially during pregnancy(which drives a lot of women to eat). Also, men don't tend to be driven to eat when in an emotional state (maybe a cocktail or two instead). This is why, and is easy to see, that most of the biggest diet plans programs are geared to and feature women. Where are the weight loss programs for men? Women are brought up being taught "to be thin is to be attractive". Most diets are designed to attract women. Fresh salads, sugarless sweets, low fat foods, but where is the meat? Where is the beer? Where are the weight loss programs for men? On the other hand, a lot of men get in to dieting later in life because of health concerns. Some of these concerns could be hypertension, type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, or even a heart attack. All these health related issues and the want to look better are a common reasons for men to jump in to a weight loss program for men. They are much less likely to join the classic weight loss programs (like Nutrisystem, Jenny Craig, or Weight Watchers) because again, they are all geared towards women. What guy wants to show up to a "weight loss weigh in" with one of those companies and be the only guy standing there? HELLO?! I have personally tried a few of the bigger diet and weight loss companies like Nutrisystem and Weight Watchers and can tell you that I did see some success. However they are very strict in the preparation and logging. Basically it takes a lot of time and money (usually AT LEAST $300 a month) to be a part of these programs. I seriously just couldn't afford it anymore and decided that if I could do it with them I could do it on my own and I HAVE! They all teach the same thing "portion control". At first that may sound like you are going to have to cut out all the delicious things out of your diet but THIS COULD NOT BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH! I hate spending ridiculous money on someone spoon feeding me like a child. There is a simpler and MUCH MUCH cheaper way to do this and you won't believe this, but it actually involves eating MORE food. I know it may sound ridiculous that eating more can make you lose more. I dare you, no I DOUBLE DARE YOU to do your own research and prove me wrong. Once you have, come back and check out this weight loss program for men (and women too!!) It is going to blow your mind. If you are looking for a great weight loss program for men or women, this is a WAAAY cheaper way to go and well worth it. How to Choose An Acceptable Weight Loss Program

When you make the decision to lose weight, you inevitably then have to go and choose a diet that not only will do the trick but also be a diet and exercise package that will be acceptable and stimulating. If you start off with a poor diet and exercise program, you'll most likely drop it and that just makes your weight loss program a big waste of time. Here's some food for thought... Following a weight loss program is the most simple and efficient solution to getting rid of your extra pounds (or at least most of them). You can find these programs all around you: books that guide you, on-line weight loss programs, TV shows, etc. You can choose which one to follow depending on your personal eating habits and on the money you are willing to spend for such a program. Many of us have a sedentary lifestyle, we go to work by car and then sit at a desk for eight hours or more, and we are always tempted by tasty and cheap but unhealthy food, rich in fats and carbohydrates. The result can be measured in the extra pounds we "gain" and it can vary from just a few extra pounds to obesity, depending on our metabolism & activities. As obesity became one of the major problems of the civilized world, an entire industry has developed on the basis of people's need to lose weight. There are all kinds of products available on the market, such as different weight loss pills, fitness devices, electrical stimulation devices, etc. The problem is the majority of these products are not that efficient as their commercials are suggesting and some may indeed be seriously harmful to your health. It is much better to find a suitable weight loss program and follow it step by step. The most essential part of the weight loss program is the diet plan, but for a more attractive commercial presentation the producers also come up with different "secrets" books, tools, analyzers, motivation tips, weight loss tricks, etc. There are also programs that include weight loss support; there are support groups such as Overeaters Anonymous or Fat Acceptance. Here are some examples of weight loss programs: Low Fat Diet The low fat weight loss program recommends a diet based on low fat or no fat foods. Reducing fat intake and regular exercise results in long-lasting weight loss. This program can be very effective if produced and supervised by an expert. Many low fat programs found on the market reduce fat consumption too much and it can become harmful for your health. A very high consumption of carbs is also not good, which is often recommended by some programs. However, this diet is one of the best ways to lose weight, but it is important they are described in the correct manner. High Protein Diet This weight loss program is based on the consumption of high protein and low carb foods. Although it leads to reasonably rapid weight loss, it is often NOT an effective diet in the long run. It encourages the consumption of saturated fats and this increases the risk of heart diseases. It can also cause damage to your kidneys, as in the absence of enough carbs, for the rapid burning of fatty acids the kidneys have to work overtime. Fixed Menu This type of weight loss program indicates you apply a fixed menu diet. You get a list of what you have to eat everyday. It is easy to follow because you don't need to keep the calorie count. Its efficiency and healthiness can vary greatly. Points Program This weight loss program is created by Weight Watchers, a company offering different dieting products and services for weight loss. The points system consists in quantifying the caloric intake and the energy expenditure. Foods are assigned a specific number of points and exercises are assigned a negative number of points. Based on their current weight and weight loss goals, program participants are allocated a certain number of points every week. Therefore, participants are allowed to eat any type of food, but they must not exceed their total point value that week. This is an easy to follow program, mainly because of the psychological effect is has on the participant. Food Optimizing This weight loss program is created by Slimming World, a British company which runs weight loss classes across the UK. During classes members are weighed and the loss or gain is shared with the others; they also share experiences, tips, ask for advice, etc. The diet is a calorie-restricted one. The foods known as "free foods", are considered to have a low calorie content may be eaten in unrestricted amounts. They recommend eating four small portions per day of foods that provide supplies of minerals, vitamins or dietary fiber, even if these foods are higher in calories. Days are classified in red days and green days. There are red days "free foods" and green days "free foods", and all other foods are assigned a syn value. Although most of us know the do's and don'ts in order to lose weight, it becomes much easier if we are using a precise weight loss program, this way we get more determined. The most important thing is not to expect short term extraordinary results. Even if there are weight loss programs that guarantee this, you may cause serious injury to your health and you will only enjoy short-time results normally. A good diet should always include all of the Recommended Daily Allowances for vitamins, minerals and proteins. Also, the weight loss program must offer you solutions for maintenance after the weight loss phase is over; and this is much more difficult than the weight loss itself. It is important to know that only healthy the eating habits and exercise are the primary keys to long term weight control. The Weight Loss Program For Your Individual Needs

So you have accepted the fact that you must lose weight now. The next step is to find the best way to go about it. With the hard and fast rules that exist in many weight loss programs the required change in lifestyle can seem incredibly daunting. However, with a professional, effective diet plan things are made a little bit easier especially one that promotes a stress free, relaxed approach which will not come as such a shock to your system. If you have been inactive for some time, starting an intensive exercise regime could do more harm than good. For this reason it is recommended that you obtain the advice of your doctor before beginning any form of exercise. The advice will generally be to take things easy initially and have check ups on a regular basis. These early visits to your doctor will ensure that consultations for more serious matters could become history. Although the most efficient weight loss programs have to be flexible and suit every individual, it should be seen as a new way of life and not just a way to lose those unwanted pounds so that you revert back to your old habits when your desired weight is reached. Your goal should be to reach your perfect weight and remain at it, not the weight that the charts indicate but the weight that you feel most comfortable with. If you are truthful to yourself carrying an extra twenty or thirty pounds around your midsection is far from ideal and by losing it, the ability to carry out many of the mundane tasks in life would become much easier. A great deal of the actions of the human body are carried out with the use of the back and stomach. When your stomach increases in size even the task of tying shoe laces can become extremely difficult. The advantages of reducing the size of your stomach are that you become more flexible with less pressure being placed upon the spine. In addition, with an improvement in posture this will result in a healthier circulation system thus allowing the blood to flow to your vital organs much easier as compression on your heart decreases. It is not about spending endless time in the gym but a realistic change in your lifestyle is essential to improve your quality of life. A gradual change in the way you conduct yourself could save you the uncertainty of numerous visits to the hospital and endless courses of medication. This is why the Anything Goes Diet plan is in place to make a difference to you and your life and offers an alternative way to remain there. Losing weight can be extremely stressful if you don't choose the correct weight loss program. So find out the most relaxed and stress-free way to reduce your weight by visiting Article Source:

My Weight Loss Program Isn't Working!

Maintaining a healthy body weight is a very difficult task. We look at those Hollywood divas and we are jealous - why them and why not me. We go off and on trendy diets, try every exercise fad, pop drugstore fat burners, nothing seems to work. The fact is as admirable and diligent as our efforts are, the truth is we can be creating more metabolic mayhem & inadvertently sabotaging our own greatest desire. We have to make nice with our metabolism - it is our omnipotent ruler within. Think of Bobby Fuller Four - I Fought the Law and the Law Won - you fight your metabolism - it gets very nasty and spiteful & yes will win! There is a population that wrestle with weight loss resistant. If one has truthfully & faithfully followed a diet of clean nutrition, exercise & physical activity - through out the day, not just a few times a week at the gym - then weight loss resistance is a possibility. However, that does not mean the extra pounds are OK to stay - it means that we have to work harder to find the right solution for us. It is not a lifetime sentence to obesity. Weight loss resistance can be a sign that there is another medical condition going on - that needs to be addressed - before either that existing condition causes more problems or those extra pounds fight dirtier. One of the many problems is conditions associated with weight loss resistance are not routinely checked by doctor's visits. Again - we have to be our own advocate speak up and say... its not working - I need testing. Get specific. Simple blood work can start to demystify the frustration, but we need to speak up and ask, or get a referral to metabolic specialist, endocrinologist - but a trip to a good ND - Naturopathic Doctor should seriously be a priority here. An ND often has a broader view of our internal operations - and can often connect the dots for us - and design an herbal & nutritional program that not only addresses the weight loss resistance - but can also give us that energy & joie de vivre we haven't felt in years! Some of the possible, more common causes of weight loss resistance are: -chronic physiological stress -whacked out adrenals -various hormonal imbalances -thyroid issues -fatty liver -metabolic fatigue (often from weight cycling aka yo yo dieting) -those might powerful fat cells that never go away, secreting & multiplying -Candida Some professionals talk about a "set point" which is a serious point of contention in the heath and fitness world. Very briefly summarized - the theory is our metabolism has almost a homeostatic weight thermostat - which means our metabolism will adjust us back to the body fat level it wants us to be... From experience, I believe this theory hasn't budged from the theory stage, very flawed, weak, metabolic scapegoating. I personally think a set point is our perceived conclusion, assumption from having a condition of weight loss resistance. Weight loss surgery is another outstanding choice in many cases. Again, whether we have a medical issue causing the weight loss resistance, it is not "OK, this is how my body wants to be". It doesn't mean the excess adiposity is less of a medical risk factor. Bariatric surgery is known to be the most effective and long lasting treatment for obesity and many related life threatening health conditions, but now research is proving weight loss surgery may be among the most effective treatments for metabolic conditions such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high LDL cholesterol, non-alcoholic fatty liver & obesity liver cirrhosis and sleep apnea. However, not all procedures provide the same happy ending. Choosing the right procedure for your own, specific medical issues & conditions is critical - and most facilities do not offer some of the procedures - so you won't hear about them through that provider. Do your research, know the potential side effects, make sure you are maximizing your health outcome, which is NOT necessarily accomplished through the most drastic procedures. Successful, permanent fat loss is a science. Its not just about skinny jeans & living life to the fullest - lets make sure we are alive - to live life. Weight Loss Program for Obesity and Chronic Diseases

Obesity has been identified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as one of the greatest public health challenges of the 21st century. Worldwide, more than 1 billion adults are overweight with at least 300 million being clinically obese. Moreover, over 22 million children, now over the age of 5, are estimated to be overweight. Obesity is also associated with a sedentary lifestyle which now ranks among the 10 leading causes of death and disability worldwide. The 2004 Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS) reported that 23.1% of Canadians (5.5 million) aged 18 or older were obese (having a BMI over 30). An additional 36.1% (8.6 million) were overweight (having a BMI between 25 - 29.9) and almost 2/3 (59.2%) of Canadians are overweight or obese. Recent research confirms that the risk of death is directly related to Body-Mass-Index (BMI), waist circumference and waist-to-hip ratio. The good news is that weight reduction results in reduced mortality risk. Weight gain, particularly around the mid section has life-threatening complications including the risk for Type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension and stroke. There is also an increased risk of breast, colon, prostate, endometrium, kidney and gallbladder cancer. Non-fatal, but debilitating health problems associated with obesity include: respiratory difficulties, chronic musculoskeletal problems including arthritis and back pain, skin problems and Infertility. Not surprisingly, addressing the underlying lifestyle behaviours of obesity - overeating and inactivity -has had a major and in reducing the cumulative incidence of diabetes. Arthritis is one of the most prevalent chronic health conditions affecting the structure and functioning of joints (including those of the spine) leading to pain, disability and difficulty for individuals in performing everyday tasks and activities. In Canada, arthritis ranks first as a cause of disability and inability to work, a top reason for physician visits, and a significant hindrance on quality of life. Arthritis is the 3rd leading cause of chronic health problems and people with arthritis are frequent users of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), which can cause gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding. Deaths due to GI bleeding were responsible for 1,322 deaths in 1998. There is a strong correlation between weight gain and arthritis, partly due to the un-necessary stress on joints from excess weight as well as inflammatory processes involved in both weight gain and joint tissue degeneration. Exercise is extremely important in your battle with arthritis. For one, it can help you to reach your weight-loss goals. Despite the abundance of diet plans, weight loss boils down to primarily on two things: expending more calories than you consume and choosing foods that enhance your metabolism. Another benefit of exercise is that it strengthens muscles that surround and support the body's joints. Strong muscles can help relieve this pressure on the joints. In general low impact exercises are recommended recreationally including, swimming, water exercise, aerobics and walking. Even modest weight loss can be beneficial and is a realistic goal to obtain. Rehabilitation should incorporate proper postural and gait exercises, isolated strengthening and balance training. There are well researched supplements to facilitate cartilage health and prevent further joint damage. Foods that are anti-inflammatory are also vital in restoring joint integrity. While most people have heard about the benefits of diet, supplements and exercise for other diseases, the benefits of good lifestyle practices for arthritis are largely overlooked. Your food selections should focus on whole grains, EFAs and mono-unsaturated fats, fruits, vegetables and lean protein sources. Try to select organic, wild and free range (grass or grain fed) whenever possible and eat fish rich in omega oils, such as salmon, mackerel and anchovies at least 2 times a week. An easy rule to remember in terms of caloric intake is the 10 servings rule. This means eating 4 daily servings of quality protein and fats (serving size is the size of your palm), 3 servings of complex carbohydrates (3 cups) and 3 servings of fruits. New research indicates that you should not sleep more or less than 7 hours per night. Any less or more will lead to weight gain. Mitigate your stress levels through exercise, relaxation, meditation, yoga, vacations and nutritional supplementation. Vitamins C and multi Bs are great vitamins that combat stress producing cortisol in the body. Lastly, EXERCISE - at least 60 minutes a day. Health benefits of regular exercise are overwhelmingly documented. Make walking and/or cycling part of your daily routine. Whatever you choose, remember to address all five factors and you will be on your way to maintaining a healthy weight and lessening your risk for many chronic diseases. There is a simple solution to combating obesity and this requires two factors: a shift in food choices and increased physical activity. These go beyond physical appearance and looking good. Weight loss for men is primarily about the health benefits of shedding those extra pounds. In this article, the various dynamics surrounding weight loss for men will be explored further, with a particular focus on programs suitable for men. In most cases, the need to lose weight among men is sparked by a conscious decision to look and feel healthier. The desire to lose weight is often linked to symptoms of deteriorating health from being overweight. This could be as little as feeling out of breath when walking up stairs to surviving a heart attack. It can prove difficult for men to make any meaningful strides towards losing the excess weight they've built-up over the years. The good news is there are quick weight loss products available on the market that work well. The bad news, if it was as easy as taking a pill and looking great, everybody would look great and nobody would be congratulated for their clear efforts in losing weight. The bottom line is some effort will have to go into an effective regime, but we need to work smart and not necessarily so hard. There are many methods to losing weight for men and the effectiveness of any program lies in how closely related that program is with your natural biological processes. Quick weight loss products that come in the form of a miracle pill are generally to be avoided, but quick weight loss programs can make a real difference and help anyone lose weight safely and naturally. That is the key to losing weight effectively and keeping it off, allowing the enjoyment of all the other associated benefits that come with a leaner, meaner looking body. If you are at all serious about shedding those extra pounds, safely and effectively, you may have already come across the Dukan Weight Loss Diet or their Online Coaching. This program offers a biologically sound program that involves methods that function in sync with the body's natural mechanisms. This is a positive step away from traditional diets and programs in that weight loss can be achieved rather quickly and effectively, with just a little bit of effort invested. Getting into the fundamental principles of the Dukan program, there are four phases. The first two phases have proven to be very effective in shedding those extra pounds. These two phases are concerned with reducing carbohydrate intake and replacing those carbs with a protein-rich diet. The second two phases teach you how to maintain your goal weight once you get there. Phase one is comprised of a special selection of high-protein foods. You can eat as much as you like of these foods, while still on target. This approach addresses any possibility of side-effects such as feeling hungry and light-headed or experiencing very low levels of energy. This initial period of carb-cutting and protein loading typically lasts between two and ten days. With platforms such as Dukan online coaching, the ideal combination of the 70+ protein-rich foods are extensively explored to help achieve optimal weight loss while eating as much as you want. The second phase slowly introduces another group of foods in the low carb category. With the popularity of this eating regime, there are now 1000's of excellent simple recipes available. As mentioned, the 2 next phases of the program focuses on maintaining the optimal weight that you achieved in the first 2 phases. A long-term view is what the focus is on and this part of the program is about keeping tabs on the weight and adjusting the diet accordingly to get back on track, should size measurements be out. Weight loss programs for men, with a focus on low-carbs are effective because when the body does not have carbohydrates to dig into as a source of energy, it looks for the next best source of energy, which is the fat reserves built up in the body. Protein is also the best muscle-building material for your body. In a quest to lose weight fast, men searching for quick weight loss product should go for wholesome, safe products that are effective, proven and developed by a medical professional or nutritionist. The focus through such programs is on lowering the carbohydrates and increasing protein intake, so as not to starve the body but still enjoy eating and lose weight at the same time. Focus then shifts to maintaining the new, optimal weight, with benefits that go beyond looking and feeling great.
